Duties

Help

  • Provides direction of assignment* training and scheduling for Tractor Operators, Greenskeepers and Laborers.
  • Assures employees are fully trained and have proper equipment and knowledge to perform work.
  • Follows established work cycles and sequences in work assignments.
  • Provides input to supervisor on status and progress of work and/or causes of any work delays.
  • Assist with work performance appraisals, provides information on attendance and other personnel actions requiring action.
  • Maintains reports and records as assigned.
  • Supports and explains work directions and goals to workers.
  • Operates gas and/or diesel-powered tractor drawn and tractor powered mowing equipment, including back-hoe, front-end loader, fairway mower, rough mower, a gang real mower, off-set counter-balanced rotary mower, aerator, fertilizer spreader and rod cutter on lever or rolling terrain.
  • Operates a dump truck and other types of heavy-duty equipment, such as brush hog, rotary mowers, trim mowers, greens mowers, collar mowers, tee mowers, aerators, plows, chippers, diggers, and backhoes needed to do daily maintenance, make special repairs, and to do pruning, trimming or planting. Assists with digging trenches, removing weeds as needed.
  • Makes operational inspections of vehicles for loose parts, damaged or worn tires, proper oil level, battery conditions and similar items.
  • Notifies supervisor or equipment repairs or replacement needs. Checks presence and usability of assigned equipment.
  • Ensures assigned vehicles and equipment are cleaned according to established standards.
  • Performs work relating to the operation, inspections, inventory requirements, minor construction, repair, and maintenance of facility real and personal property, as required.

  • Must be able to work nights, holidays and weekends.
  • May be exposed to dirt, grease, oil, battery acid and other hazardous materials.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete background investigation. Background Investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
  • Must be able to lift items up to 50 lbs.
  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • May be exposed to periods of hot sun, dust, inclement weather, noise, jolting and vibrations.

Qualifications

  • Three years of experience relating to a golf course maintenance operation desired.
  • Two years of experience operating tractors and other related heavy-duty equipment preferred.
  • Knowledge of proper care and maintenance of grasses and golf course turf.
  • Skill in maneuvering driver-operated machinery in small places, tight, confined spaces in a small turning radius and on various grades.
  • Skill needed to operate both the tractor and equipment and ability to manipulate both the tractor and the equipment controls at the same time.
  • Ability to make multiple connections between tractor and attached or towed equipment.
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to maintain reports and records.
  • Ability to communicate and deal effectively with others.
