About the Position: This position is located at Bldg. 4389 Beaufort Rd in the Materiel Management Warehouse and is temperature controlled. Work is performed 8 hours per day, M-F (except Federal holidays) within core hours of 0700-1630.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

Help
  • Receive and store specialized materials, equipment and medical gases for a medical facility.
  • Manage and dispose of hazardous waste and materials in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Inspect materials prior to receiving for safe handling of hazardous property.
  • Maintain accountability of property until a determination is made for proper disposal.
  • Utilize computer applications, such as, Wide Area Workflow (WAWF), Defense Medical Logistics Support Systems (DMLSS), word processing, spreadsheet, and database design systems to manage equipment and materials.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Lifting up to 60 pounds may be required.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler without more than normal supervision.

- Ability to perform common warehousing activities, including receiving, storing, selecting, and shipping materials and equipment. I can receive, unload and store items from incoming shipments, locate, select and prepare items for shipment, and conduct warehouse inventories. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Works on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May lift and carry weights up to 40 pounds. May handle heavier items with weight lifting equipment or with assistance from other workers.

Working Conditions: Work is done inside and outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Employee is regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, falls from ladders, falling material, or injury from equipment. May be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, solvents, and high noise areas while working in a mechanized work area, or radiation, toxins, explosives hazards, or chemical fumes while working in a hazardous materials area. May be required to wear protective clothing such as hard hats, steel toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks, and rubber aprons.
