  1. Participate in School Health Community meetings with representatives from area schools, health agencies, interested parents, and youth to develop a mission statement, with goals and objectives.
  2. Facilitate the development and implementation of an employee wellness program designed to reduce stress and sickness, improve morale, enhance teamwork, improve productivity, and promote health and fitness role-modeling for patients and the public.
  3. Advocate for the support of employee wellness goals by all appropriate elected officials and policy bodies at all levels of area governments.
  4. Advocate for student adoption of healthy life-styles and parent education strategies in collaboration with area schools and health agencies.
  5. Advocate for an enhanced media literacy program with an emphasis on HP/DP objectives regarding physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual wellness by addressing common risk behaviors within the community and scope of HP/DP intradepartmental priorities.

Background Investigation Requirement:

This position requires the successful completion of a federal background investigation as a condition of employment.

A background investigation is a standard process used by the Federal Government to verify an individual's identity, employment history, education, and other relevant information to determine suitability for Federal service.

Upon receipt of instructions, applicants must complete all required background investigation forms within five (5) calendar days of issuance. Timely completion is critical to avoid delays in processing or a determination of unsuitability.

This position requires a review of the applicant's financial history as part of the personnel security and suitability determination. Applicants must demonstrate financial responsibility, maintain good standing with creditors, and satisfy all legal financial obligations prior to applying.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):

Education
Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-11: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

-OR-

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
1 year equivalent to at least GS-9

Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Such as making decisions concerning the implementation of data, planning, and developing or refining methods which promotes health promotion services needed by the community and assisting in planning, developing and evaluating local health resources, needs and programs; applying varied duties involving different and unrelated processes and methods to a broad range of activities and problems; originating new techniques, establishing criteria for health promotion and health status measurement; developing new information to a wide range of physical, social, mental and environmental problems where professional expertise is needed to develop meaningful, productive and effective activities to upgrade the health of the Indian people and experience in managing multiple projects at once as well as work as a team leader for task groups including professionals, technicians and students, etc.

Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
