Assist in the coordination and tracking of the Decedent Affairs Program, including tracking Very Seriously Ill (VSI) and seriously ill active-duty service members.
Perform data entry and retrieval within electronic tracking systems to compile Personnel Casualty Reporting (PCR) data for medical center and local area deaths.
Provide routine administrative support to Casualty Assistance Calls Officers (CACO) by assembling standard informational packets, packets, and required forms.
Gather reference materials, regulations, and policy updates from higher authorities to help higher-grade specialists maintain the program's Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
Relay established, routine procedural steps and processing timelines regarding Decedent Affairs and PCR to family members, command staff, and adjacent units.
Route time-sensitive communications and administrative files to senior team members, ensuring complex or sensitive issues are escalated appropriately.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes leading casualty operations and decedent affairs, reviewing medical charts for medical examiner reporting and managing personal effects. Counseling next of kin on burial options, transport allowances, and government benefits. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education: One full year of graduate level education with a major study in electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management, or other fields related to the position to be filled.

Superior Academic Achievement: Successful completion of all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, such as that identified in Education above. (1) Class Standing - Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; OR
