As a Dimensional Metrology Technician, you will be responsible for conducting dimensional metrology, calibrations, and measurement services.
The Candidate will:
Perform precise calibrations of gauge blocks, thread standards, wires, precision spheres, and other dimensional artifacts in accordance with established measurement procedures.
Maintain the integrity, traceability, and quality of measurement services while supporting efficient laboratory operations and ensuring the timely processing of calibration workloads.
Prepare calibration reports and measurement uncertainty budgets, monitor statistical process control parameters, and ensure compliance with laboratory quality system requirements.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 level (or ZT-I at NIST). Specialized experience is defined as experience:
Conducting dimensional calibrations of precision gauges in a standards laboratory.
Maintaining the quality of customer calibrations.
Experience with mechanical and interferometric techniques for calibrating length-based reference artifacts, including optical flats and gauge blocks.
Managing customer orders, including customer gauges and artifacts.
OR
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study in an appropriate field of physical science, or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses of physical science, engineering, or any branch of mathematics, except financial and commercial mathematics.
OR
A combination of education and experience.
NOTE: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
