Duties

Help
  • Provide work assignments to subordinate electroplaters
  • Inform the supervisor about the status of projects.

  • Monitor the work environment for compliance with safety regulations.

  • Provide technical guidance to lower-level electroplaters.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 pounds in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or Business Travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance for access to Depot Production Computer System.
  • This position requires the wear of chemical protective clothing, respirators, and self-contained breathing apparatus with backpack, subject to the provisions of AR 50-6, Chemical Personnel Reliability Program.
  • Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion (NTE) 1 year by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Position may be made permanent without further competition.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electroplater Leader without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Electroplater Leader tasks which include determining the proper electroplating processes to use; and investigating the cause of electroplating failures to make corrections. I am skilled in utilizing various tools to prepare items for plating. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Effort - Work requires the continual use of both hands and frequent standing, stooping, bending, reaching, and lifting. Incumbent frequently handles objects weighing up to 20 pounds and occasionally objects weighing as much as 50 pounds.
  • Working Conditions - Incumbent works inside shop area with adequate lighting, ventilation, and safety controls. Work is of a dirty nature and incumbent is subject to minor cuts and bruises from handling material and using hoists. Incumbent is exposed to disagreeable and toxic fumes from chemicals used in the electroplating processes. Incumbent is required to wear protective clothing such as coveralls, goggles, aprons, boots, rubber gloves, etc., as protection against burns and exposure to hot water or chemicals. Incumbent is also required to wear self-contained chemical respirator when changing or adding solution to vats
