Troubleshoot production equipment to resolve mechanical issues and ensure reliable operation.
Oversee mechanical repair and modification work to ensure conformance with established plans, specifications, and performance standards.
Conduct studies on new or modified mechanical equipment to evaluate design approaches, test results, and necessary improvements.
Perform tests on plant processes and mechanical equipment to verify performance and determine characteristics, limitations, and root causes of failures.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
This position is subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.
This position requires use/wear of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as steel toe boots and/or safety shoes.
This position may require long periods of standing, bending and occasional lifting of heavy items. Successful completion of a pre-employment physical is required.
Incumbent must obtain and maintain Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) certification within 18 months of hire.
Incumbent must obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 18 months of hire.

Specialized Experience: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes: Experience assisting with mechanical repair or modification of equipment; supporting engineering studies or tests of mechanical systems; performing routine mechanical inspections or failure analyses using established procedures; and helping implement mechanical process or equipment improvements under the guidance of senior technicians or engineers. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
