Duties

Help

The incumbent of this position will serve as an Investigator and, as such, will:

  • Conduct administrative, civil, and whistleblower reprisal investigations.
  • Gather data on individuals or businesses who are subjects of allegations or investigations by querying a variety of resources, including law enforcement and intelligence databases, computerized recordkeeping systems, and SBA commercial databases.
  • Monitor, coordinate, research, analyze, and evaluate incoming allegations.
  • Perform online research and data mining for complex fraud investigations.
  • Assist case agents in conducting investigations by participating in interviews of subjects and witnesses and attending meetings.
  • Thoroughly analyze investigative records, assist in preparing IG and grand jury subpoenas.
  • Research regulations, case precedents and other areas as required on individual cases.
  • Analyze computerized data for internal and external statistical reporting.
  • Develop, write, and edit investigative reports and related correspondence.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Statements:

GS-13: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector that has equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: evaluating allegations/complaints of inefficiency, misconduct, impropriety, mismanagement, or violations of law (e.g. fraud, waste, and abuse); gathering and evaluating information and evidence; AND researching and analyzing rules and regulations for applicability to alleged wrongdoing; and developing and updating finalized policies, procedures, and regulations; provides, as needed, presentations, briefings, case updates, and/or reports to leadership.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

TIME-IN-GRADE: If you are a current career or career-conditional federal employee applying for promotion under Merit Promotion you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks in positions at the next level lower than the position being filled.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

Applicants meeting basic eligibility requirements will be further evaluated based on additional assessments. One of these assessment is USA Hire. Candidates eligible for veterans' preference will be placed ahead of other candidates in the appropriate category for which they have been rated.
