Duties

Help
  • Provides police, fire and emergency medical dispatching services to the public by answering emergency 911 calls and dispatching appropriate personnel and equipment.
  • Provides emergency medical dispatching (EMD) assistance to callers with medical emergencies using the Priority Dispatch EMD system.
  • Performs supervisory duties in the installation's emergency dispatch center.
  • Maintains reports and retrieves needed statistical information using the National Fire Incident Reporting System(s) (NFIRS).

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • Able to obtain and maintain, within 6 months of employment, a Colorado Crime Information Center (CCIC) Level S Certification.
  • Position is subject to shift work. The incumbent is required to work an alternate work schedule, which requires an uncommon tour of duty (including nights, weekends and holidays).
  • Incumbent is required to work (mission essential) regardless of weather conditions, Terrorist Force Protection Condition (TFPCON) or installation closure and to report to the duty station at the regularly scheduled time.
  • Required to possess and maintain certification in CPR, advanced Police, Fire and Medical Priority Dispatch System. The incumbent is responsible for attaining continuing dispatch (CDE) requirements through in-service training that is offered.
  • (continued...) - The incumbent must maintain an overall compliance score of 90 percent or better by the Advances Quality Assurance (AQUA) software.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license, and any installation and/or DoD license required for the type of vehicle being driven.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Tentatively selected applicants will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Able to obtain and maintain the following requirements for each Cyber work role (except Data, AI, and/or Software Engineering) at the assigned proficiency level: 1) Foundational qualification requirements within 9 months,

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) providing dispatch services for medical emergencies, law enforcement, aviation, or fire operations AND 2) using computer-aided dispatching systems and radio equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
