In this position, you will lead development and quality review for original visual components, from design conception to digital and print publishing, for a broad scope of communication materials in support of ERS objectives.
Summary

In this position, you will lead development and quality review for original visual components, from design conception to digital and print publishing, for a broad scope of communication materials in support of ERS objectives.

Leads a team of two GS-12 Visual Information Specialists.
Provides visual design direction and quality control, sets and enforces design and accessibility standards.
Communicates agency's plans and priorities and integrates those into the design team's work plans and products.
Makes assignments, balances workloads, tracks and reports project status. Helps resolve any issues.
Deliver high-quality, and visually consistent products that meet mission needs and stakeholder expectations.
Provides expertise and coordination regarding projects, such as presentations through magazines, exhibits, chart booklets, slides, videos, motion graphics, maps, illustrations, brochures, posters, and cover art.
Directs and implements the creation of visual materials required to explain, clarify, and enhance the information dissemination activities of ERS.
Plans and designs complex charts and papers for situation and outlook reports, research documents, and other publications for use in displays at meetings, based on data supplied by subject matter experts.

Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-13 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-12 which is directly related to the work of this position, and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience developing high quality visual information products (e.g. photographs, illustrations, charts, videos, publications); utilizing desktop publishing, video production, and graphics development software to produce complex, electronic output; independently planning and designing charts and publications; and leading others to build consensus and improve work products.
Time in Grade: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet the time in grade requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
