  • Deployment Planning and Execution: Plans, organizes, and oversee all unit-level deployment activities. Configures and maintains functional Unit Type Codes (UTCs) as postured by MAJCOM Functional Area Managers (FAMs) using authorized unit resources. Notifies the Installation Deployment Officer (IDO) and MAJCOM FAM of UTC shortfalls due to manpower or equipment changes. Monitors UTC/UMD alignment and notifies leadership of mismatches. Develops workload mitigation plans to maximize deployable capability. Reviews deployment documents to identify personnel and equipment taskings. Executes deployment operations on behalf of the unit commander and supports base mobility exercises. Coordinates Time Phased Force Deployment Data (TPFDD) taskings through the Installation Deployment Readiness Center (IDRC) and submits personnel named. Validates personnel eligibility based on DAV codes, clearances, AFSC, skill levels, and Component Remark Codes. Ensures compliance with UTC Mission Capability (MISCAP) Statements and submits shortfalls with documentation as required. Works with unit personnel to tailor packages for contingency and exercise deployments. Uses Logistics Module (LOGMOD) to track unit status. Schedules deployment/redeployment processing with the Installation Personnel Readiness (IPR) office and ensures smooth personnel flow. Supports communications during deployment.
  • Readiness Tracking and Reporting: Performs analysis activities. Establishes metrics and systems to assess deployment efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance. Analyzes combat capability through training, equipment, manning, and leadership evaluations. Reviews data to identify deficiencies and takes corrective action. Manages unit readiness reporting through the Defense Readiness Reporting System (DRRS). Assists the unit commander with DRRS resource and capability assessments and Unit Type Code (UTC) assessments in Deliberate and Crisis Action Planning and Execution Segments (DCAPES). Verifies the commander's monthly submissions. Takes corrective action on any Authoritative Data Source discrepancies affecting readiness assessments. Postures UMD billets to UTC positions in DCAPES. Recommends and corrects AFFORGEN Employment Force Indicator (AEFI) codes. Supports MAJCOM FAMs in UTC validation and reports unit capability status. Evaluates UTC package composition and recommends changes based on unit capability. Provides readiness trend data and analysis to leadership.
  • Personnel Deployment Readiness: Ensures unit members and deployable equipment maintain a constant state of readiness. Verifies that personnel meet Air Force, Combatant Command, and theater-specific deployment requirements. Manages unit deployment operations in coordination with the Installation Deployment Readiness Center. Identifies and tracks pre-deployment requirements, including Component Remark Codes (CRCs) and Foreign Clearance Guide actions. Monitors readiness using the AFFORGEN-Connect Commanders Toolkit and Military Personnel Data System. Maintains electronic Deployment Readiness Checklists (e-DRCs) and Air Force Deployment Folders (e-AFDFs). Conducts reviews and ensures checklist accuracy. Trains personnel on e-DRC/e-AFDF use and verify AFFORGEN-Connect account creation. Identifies and tracks pre-deployment training such as RAT, RTA, CBRN, weapons qualifications, and work center-specific certifications (e.g., Classified Courier, Deployed Custodian). Coordinates DAV waivers and medical readiness. Ensures ISOPREP completion and PRMS entry prior to departure.
  • UTC Management : Provides technical guidance to leadership on unit deployment capabilities. Advises the commander on tasking response, shortfall mitigation, and application of deployment policies. Interprets Joint, Air Force, and MAJCOM planning guidance and briefs leadership on applicable requirements. Coordinates unit personnel readiness data and reporting inputs. Manages Unit Type Codes (UTCs) in DCAPES using authorized resources. Reviews UTC proposals and recommends changes. Ensures all funded UMD authorizations are accurately postured in standard UTCs and coordinates with the Functional Area Manager (FAM) as needed. Compare UMD billets to UTC requirements and ensure personnel are assigned to only one UTC. Validates posture annually, including PAS codes, FACs, and AFSCs. Confirms personnel meet Mission Capability (MISCAP) Statement requirements, including certifications, recurring training, and Special Experience Identifiers (SEIs). Coordinates training with the FAM and Unit Training Manager (UTM). Manages UTC equipment inventories and documentation in LOGMOD and establishes procedures to procure necessary equipment and expendables. Notifies LRS/Plans and Integration and the MAJCOM FAM when UTC taskings cannot be supported due to personnel or equipment limitations.
  • Performs Other Duties as Assigned.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement.
In compliance with Title 32 United States Code, the compatible military skill set is determined by the applicable service manpower requirements. Upon selection, individuals are assigned to the authorized position and its compatible military skill in accordance with Air force skill classification directives, statutes, and National Guard Bureau regulations. The Dual Status technician must obtain and maintain all military skill requirements in regard to training, education, certifications, experience. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience, education or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration; compiling reports, letters, memoranda, etc., and required person-to-person contacts to convey information; progressively responsible experience which demonstrates the ability to provide technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable?? work of the position to be filled; experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 1 year specialized experience, education or training equivalent to at least the next lower grade level; applicants must have experience providing technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled; applicants must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of administrative procedures and practices of management; experience developing administrative procedures.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: In accordance with the State Merit Placement Plan, candidates will be considered in order of their area of consideration category as appropriate.

  • Ability to manage and execute unit deployment programs. This includes the ability to plan, organize, and oversee all unit-level deployment activities, from initial planning and preparation through execution and redeployment. This involves coordinating with various base and command-level entities, managing personnel and equipment taskings, and operating control centers during exercises or contingencies.
  • Skill in providing technical guidance and training on deployment-related matters. This includes the ability to advise unit leadership on deployment capabilities and tasking responses, brief personnel on requirements, and coordinate with training managers to address any readiness shortfalls. The role requires effective communication to ensure all stakeholders understand their responsibilities and are prepared for deployment.
  • Ability to communicate orally in order to conduct briefings, give instructions, and resolve disputes.
  • Ability to write with clarity.

Air National Guard Units

The National Guard is the oldest component of the US Armed Forces. Since the earliest American colonial days, citizens have joined together for collective defense. The NG supports both State and Federal missions:
State Mission: When not mobilized or under federal control, units report to the Governor through the Adjutant General. Under state law, the NG provides protection of life, property and preserves peace, order and public safety. Missions include emergency relief support during natural disasters; search and rescue; support to civil authorities; maintenance of vital public services and counterdrug operations.
Federal Mission: The Air National Guard federal mission is to maintain well-trained, well-equipped combat units available for prompt mobilization during federal military operations. During peacetime, these combat-ready units and support units are assigned to carry out missions compatible with training, mobilization readiness, humanitarian and contingency operations.

AIR NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED: Position requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Nevada ANG. Selectee is required to wear the military uniform.
