Summary

About the Position: This position's office is located in the basement level of the MTF Clinic. The majority of the work environment is located under shelter, indoor and outdoor storage, clinics, and laboratory spaces (i.e., conducting scheduled and unscheduled, diagnostic, and equipment repairs). The hours of work are typically Monday- Friday 0730-1630.

Duties

Help

Monitors system backups, ensures network connectivity, mitigates cybersecurity vulnerabilities, and maintains clinical systems.
Utilizes test equipment in accordance with manufacturer instructions.
Manages projects involving medical equipment and clinical systems.
Provides customer support to staff, evaluates issues and needs, responds with solutions, and keeps customers abreast of status.
Educates staff on the safe operation and user-level maintenance of medical equipment and clinical systems.
Serves as a Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) and/or purchase card holder.
Develops documentation to purchase commodities and/or vendor services. Manages, monitors, and evaluates contractor performance and addresses issues or deficiencies.
Complies with applicable standards, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Provides guidance and mentorship to expand professional knowledge and enhance technical skillsets.
Maintains and enhances knowledge in technological advancements through professional development and technical training.
Represents the BMET Branch at meetings, conferences, and update briefings.
Other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the Medical Treatment Facility.

Lifting (Moderate/Heavy): Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.
This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 level in the Federal service which includes providing technical support of various patient care equipment; maintaining medical electronic equipment and/or systems; and testing patient care equipment.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

OR

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
