Perform the full range of work involved in the installation, maintenance, repair, modification and testing of primary and secondary distribution systems requiring knowledge of electrical principles, procedures.
Plan, lays-outs, install, modify, test, maintain, and repair a variety of fixtures, hardware and equipment including transformers, generators, insulators, breakers, fuses, conductors, switches, cable, conduit, wire, control systems.
Construct and install rigid and thin wall conduits. Pull in conductors, assemble bus bars, phase out and connect conductors.
Test, troubleshoot, maintain and repair all parts of distribution system, generating system and controlling equipment including load, transformers, switches, and cable connections.
Serve as an Operator in Charge, alternating responsibilities with one other High Voltage Electrician.
Maintain all records and generator engine operating manuals.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
A pre-placement medical examination is required.
Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds is required.

Physical Effort: Work involves lifting and carrying weights up to 50 pounds, kneeling, stooping, crouching and standing for long periods of time. Uses coordination of eyes, hands, legs, and body to install, repair, and test electrical equipment in confined spaces such as manholes or enclosed switchgear, or in structures such as overhead bus and conduit assemblies. Climbs ladders in accomplishing work.
