Fort Drum is approximately 30 miles from Canada, with the Great Lakes to the west, the Adirondack Mountains to the east, and the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands in between.
Ensure the movement, to include the safe receipt and storage, of ammunition and explosive materials in accordance with facility and regulatory requirements.
Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to in the use of equipment.
Organize items in the storage area for maximum convenience of handling and ease of movement.
Assure ammunition is loaded by class in accordance with loading and storage charges per regulations.
Transport materials from receiving areas to storage or from storage areas to appropriate office.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
This position may require the incumbent to Travel for temporary duty (TDY) up to 5% of the time.
This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program and requires the incumbent to pass urinalysis periodically throughout the employment periodically thereafter.
This position has a requirement to lift up to 75 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
May be required to work Army Power Projection Platform (AP3) Operations. Work may involve shift work, weekends, and/or holidays, to include mandatory overtime as mission requires.
This position could require working in extreme weather conditions (i.e., snow, rain, cold, heat).
Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state and U.S. Government driver's license.
Incumbent must obtain and maintain fork lift operator license.
Appointment to this position is subject to a one year trial period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11.

Physical Efforts: Incumbent assignments may require standing, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Individually required to lift and carry materials weighing up to 75 pounds which may be too small to be handled by two persons.
Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside in temperatures ranging from hot to extremely cold. The work may be dusty, dirty and greasy. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises,
explosions, fire or even death. Safety equipment such as steel-toed shoes and gloves are required as well as more specialized equipment for hazardous materials including goggles and coveralls.
Education
