• Acts as the gatekeeper to Inpatient Medicine Services for clinics, Emergency department and at the organization's areas of responsibility.
• Serves as a Medicine Consultant for Inpatient Services.
• Determines staffing needs
• Develop inpatient policies and procedures.
• Conduct thorough studies of patients presented with medical management problems based on the level of professional ability.
• Provides supervision and consultative advice for professional and administrative matters for patients in Medicine Services
• Evaluates work performance of subordinate physicians, nurses and administrative staff as determined by the organizational structure.
• Monitors work of supervisors, leaders, team chiefs, group coordinators, committee chairs and/or personnel as needed.

• Required to possess and maintain a current, active, valid and unrestricted Physician license from a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth territory, or jurisdiction in accordance with OPM.
• Required to be credentialed through the Hospital Credentials Committee as a provider in accordance with DHA and other applicable regulations and directives.
• Required to possess and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, (Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) does not substitute for BLS).
• Required to possess and maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Position has been designated Mission Essential.
• In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent may be required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
• The work requires the employee to be able to work evenings/nights, rotating shifts, extended hours, weekends, holidays, on-call or other schedules common to hospital operations, on an occasional basis or on an emergency basis, when necessary.
• Required to complete pre-employment/placement medical examination/physical.
• This position is designated as having regular and recurring contact with children under the age of 18 and is subject to requirements of DoDI 1402.05 and AR 600-78.
• This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
• Applicants tentatively selected for appointment to this position will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
• One year supervisory probationary period may be required.
• A pre-placement physical is required.
• Applicant must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical priviliges.
• This position may require the incumbent to work during irregular work hours, which may include, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
• Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds may be required.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.

Basic Requirement for Supervisory Physician (Hospitalist):

Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must have provided education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.

Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least one year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Residency Training: Applicants must have successfully completed the required accredited residency training in the specialty of the position to be filled Internal Medicine equal to at least 4 years. Experience may not be substituted for residency training that is required for the specialty identified.

If you are selected for a Physician position: Salary for physician positions is based on a tier scale, determined by the position specialty, grade and location.
