Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Repair: Performs repairs and preventative maintenance on all components of the irrigation system, including sprinklers, water lines, valves, and electrical-mechanical remote control systems. This includes overhauling parts, cleaning electrical contacts, and replacing faulty components.
System Operation: Operates a Toro Osmac irrigation computer to set and adjust watering schedules based on plant and grass needs, which are determined through soil probing and visual inspection.
Technical Tasks: Utilizes a variety of hand and power tools, as well as diagnostic equipment like ohmmeters and voltmeters, to perform duties. Maintains a stock of necessary replacement parts.
Driving: Operates a vehicle to travel across the worksite for irrigation tasks.

Qualifications and Requirements:
Experience: A minimum of six months of experience operating a computerized irrigation system is required, along with experience in automatic irrigation systems.
Skills: The role demands knowledge of plumbing, electrical-mechanical controls, hydraulics, automatic valves, and controllers. Completion of a formal trade school course in plumbing or irrigation equipment is also required
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
