Duties

Help
  • Manages the receipt, storage, replenishment, pricing, and disposal of specialized military commodities (Classes II, III, IV, V, VII, and IX).
  • Investigates inventory discrepancies to recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Performs strategic and long-range planning on all phases of supply management workload to maintain understanding of the purchased material, supplies, and equipment needed to support all mission requirements.
  • Uses unique software for inventory management, control asset movements and other supply actions associated with stock control functions.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.

  • Heavy lifting up to 50 lbs. is required.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1. Determining inventory accuracy through reconciliation analysis techniques; 2. Using automated inventory management systems to maintains current stock records and reconcile discrepancies; 3. Conducting supply control studies; and 4. Analyzing information to provide supply information to customers, prepare reports, and recommend actions in implementing policies and procedures. This definition of general experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
