Duties

Help

As an Administrative Support Assistant (OA), GS-0303-07, you will advise regarding the practical and technical aspects of office administration, to include budgeting, purchasing, supply, personnel, word processing, and files management; and performs staff support work in each of these areas. Updates the office's supply sources; purchases supplies, equipment, and services through open market purchase by blanket agreement, cash or field purchase order, or similar methods; processes and tracks purchase documents; Collects data for the office-operating budget, reviews submissions for proper format and compliance with budget requirements, and consolidates material into an annual office budget. Sets up controls to monitor expenses during the year; and recommends budget adjustments including restructuring budget allocations or work plans to deal with changing situations such as varying costs for equipment parts, or services, and changes in the availability of funds. Maintains and transfer funds between several unrelated appropriated fund accounts and several revolving fund accounts. The accounts are subject to different regulations and procedures.

Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Service "under the authority of Title 5, P.L. 114-328, Sections 932 and 1084 (FY17 NDAA)", and is open to current Title 5 Federal employees within the agency interested in helping the Department of the Army meet our mission requirements as an Administrative Support Assistant (OA).

PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard.

Recruitment / Relocation: Incentive MAY be authorized. ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard.

FLNG BUS Code 8888: This position is "excluded" and ineligible for labor organization representation.

YOU MUST UPLOAD YOUR MOST RECENT SF 50 (eg. General Adjustment) TO BE CONSIDERED

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS07 Must have at least one year of specialized experiences at the GS-5
level or the equivalent which provided a working knowledge of National Guard missions, organizations, and federal civilian or military personnel programs; experience in the interpretation and application of regulations, procedures or laws; experience that provided a working knowledge of administrative functions; experience working independently and setting priorities with very little supervisory control.

FL National Guard employees indirectly report to the governor through the state Adjutant General and have the possibility to be utilized for emergency relief support during natural disasters such as floods, hurricanes, and forest fires, etc. Although not every position requires routine emergency support, all positions are subject to recall around the clock operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of these operations may be with little advance notice, and may require employees to briefly relocate to work stations with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
