  • Serves as the Joint Logistics Operations Center (JLOC) Chief, providing authoritative advice for the planning, development, and execution of logistics programs involving equipment, supplies, medical, engineering, and contracting support.
  • Analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of logistics support during contingency operations and exercises, resolving specific problems as required.
  • Develops and provides logistics input and staff advice on higher-echelon policies, procedures, and directives to ensure integration with interagency and international partners.
  • Identifies, monitors, and synchronizes all aspects of deployment, distribution, and sustainment across the Joint Logistics Enterprise (JLEnt), including coordination with DLA and USTRANSCOM.
  • Develops written staff products such as OPLANs, CONPLANs, and decision briefs for senior leadership on program status, accomplishments, and requirements.
  • Leads and participates in the planning and execution of major USSOUTHCOM exercises such as PANAMAX, TRADEWINDS, and FUSED RESPONSE.
  • Evaluates logistical plans for feasibility and efficiency, particularly in support of Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief (HA/DR) operations.
  • Directs, coordinates, and oversees the work of the branch, formulating program goals, setting priorities, and ensuring the effective use of staff experience and abilities.
  • Oversees the career development of assigned personnel, explains performance expectations, and promotes a culture of dignity, respect, and inclusivity.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Designated Tier 5, Special Sensitive (High Risk). Incumbent must obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access as a condition of employment.
  • This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. The incumbent must pass urinalysis testing, as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • Per AR 690-11, this "Key" position cannot be vacated during mobilization. The incumbent must be exempted from active duty recall and will receive training to sustain base operations and ensure mission accomplishment during national emergencies.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • Incumbent may be subject to extended Temporary Duty or worldwide deployments during crisis situations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid regular or official U.S. Passport.
  • Incumbent may be required to work non-standard duty hours (e.g., shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime-both scheduled and unscheduled.
  • Must obtain and maintain Country/Theater Clearance per the Foreign Clearance Guide located at: https://www.fcg.pentagon.mil/fcg.cfm.
  • Incumbent must obtain smallpox and anthrax vaccinations and complete any pre-employment screening and pertinent immunizations for country entry.
  • Per DoDM 8140.03, non-software/AI cyber roles must meet: 1) Foundational requirements in 9 months, 2) Resident requirements in 12 months, and 3) 20 hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) per work role code (overlapping allowed).

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service which includes serving as a focal point for logistics operations and providing staff advice on higher-echelon policies and directives. This includes synchronizing Joint Logistics Enterprise (JLEnt) efforts by monitoring deployment, distribution, and sustainment; evaluating logistical plans for feasibility and efficiency in support of exercises and contingencies such as Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief (HA/DR); and mitigating logistics risks within the area of responsibility. This also includes directing and overseeing the formulation of program goals and work plans, setting priorities for a logistics branch, and advising staff to ensure the effective utilization of their experience and training.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
