Major Duties

  • Generate various types of correspondence and provide information for statistical and narrative reports.
  • Fully utilize systems such as CAPRI, COVERS, VACOLS,PCGL, PIES, SHARE, ARCIS, RRS, VBMS, Adobe, eMilrecs and Microsoft Word, to input and/or access information needed in connection with the duties of the position.
  • Process all incoming Power of Attorney requests. Determine if a prior representative must be revoked, prepares correspondence to notify all parties concerned and updates the master record(s).
  • Explain VA FOIA/Privacy Act programs and entitlement criteria to veterans and their dependents.
  • Apply all rules and regulations for VA FOIA/Privacy Act records releases and accurately redacting Personally Identifiable Information.
  • Provide administrative support to the team to which they are assigned.
  • Act as the liaison between the supervisor and employees relative to obtaining resources and securing information on process developments.
  • Provide training to unit employees which require them to maintain current and accurate knowledge of procedures, policies, and directives as changes occur or as mandated by law or local decisions of management.

Work Schedule: Full time, Monday through Friday 7:30am-4:00pm
Telework: This position is eligible for situational (ad hoc) telework only. The selectee is required to report to the official duty station each scheduled workday. Telework may be approved only on a case-by-case basis with supervisory approval. Routine or recurring telework is not authorized for this position.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement:07/24/2026.
TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENT: As a current Federal, GS employee you must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

To qualify for a GS-7, You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

Specialized experience includes:

  • Using various software to produce and transmit documents, reports, and correspondence(s)
  • Utilizing automated computer systems to enter data and maintain case file
  • Performing standard clerical duties to include maintaining suspense and follow up systems
  • Reviewing forms and documents for completeness and accuracy
  • Acting as a liaison between Regional Offices and other Government Agencies such as Department of Defense and NARA.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Full vs. Part-Time Employment: Full-time employment is considered to be at least 35 hours per week. Part-time experience will be credited on a pro-rated basis; when including part-time employment in your resume you must specify the average hours worked per week.

Physical Requirements:The work is mostly sedentary; however, there may be some walking, standing, and carrying of light items.
