Powering the Pacific Northwest Through Precision: Lead the Future of Grid Intelligence at BPA

At the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), our mission is to deliver clean, reliable, and sustainable power to millions of people across the Pacific Northwest. Behind every megawatt of electricity and every mile of transmission line is a massive network of physical assets-and the critical data that keeps them running safely and efficiently. If you are a dedicated professional who is ready to leverage your existing knowledge of our agency's unique operations, systems, and goals, this is your opportunity to take the next step in your career. Build on your existing experience within our organization to serve as a pivotal bridge between physical infrastructure and digital strategy, ensuring our technical teams have the high-quality data they need to keep the grid secure, compliant, and optimized.

Here are the eight key duties where you will make a lasting impact:

  • Lead the Charge in Data Excellence: Serve as the technical lead and primary expert for our Asset Management Data Team. You will guide team projects, design standard-setting processes, and champion the continuous improvement of how we manage data across our internal business operations.
  • Advise and Influence Strategic Decisions: Provide expert counsel and authoritative guidance to senior leadership regarding complex data policies and program outcomes. You will shape long-range planning strategies directly impacting how we measure efficiency and program success.
  • Innovate with Advanced Data Analytics: Create, modify, and optimize sophisticated database algorithms and search queries. You will integrate multiple data sources to flag operational anomalies, track equipment performance, analyze total asset costs, and build visual reporting tools that turn complex data into actionable insights.
  • Champion Data Integrity and Industry Compliance: Act as our principal data steward to guarantee database accuracy, consistency, and reliability. You will oversee critical system checks to ensure our records align perfectly with national energy regulatory standards (such as NERC and FERC).
  • Unify Systems Across Key Business Lines: Lead cross-functional user groups to streamline how data flows between different departments-including power systems, substation maintenance, and transmission line operations-breaking down silos to create a more integrated data ecosystem.
  • Empower Teams Through Mentorship and Training: Provide hands-on training, expert advice, and troubleshooting support to fellow employees utilizing our key database systems (like Asset Suite and Cascade). You will coach team members on building effective queries and author easy-to-use "how-to" guides.
  • Solve Complex, Unprecedented Data Challenges: Research and evaluate highly complex, shifting asset data conditions. You will reconcile conflicting information, design brand-new analysis methods where none exist, and develop solutions for critical, high-value program issues.
  • Drive Technological Evolution: Stay at the forefront of emerging data management technologies to continuously modernize our systems. You will collaborate with external organizations to exchange best practices and bring innovative tech solutions back to elevate our operations.
