  • Maintain an armory in which weapons, ammunition, supplies, and other items used by the civilian guard force are stored.
  • Make repairs and adjustments to various small arms.
  • Serve as supply clerk with responsibility for processing requisitions.
  • Drive a truck or carryall to transport items to various locations throughout the arsenal.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must complete and pass a pre-employment drug test and then annually through random testing thereafter.
  • Must meet requirements under 18 USC 922(g)(9) (The Lautenberg Amendment); and sign the DD Form 2760 (Qualification to Possess Firearms or Ammunition).
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires a pre-employment physical must be completed successfully and annually thereafter.
  • This position may require participation in the Chemical Incident or Mishap Response and Assistance (CIMRA) situations and serve on teams dedicated to mitigating CIMRA situations, after being trained for the particular duty.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Small Arms Repairer without more than normal supervision. Inspecting small arms to determine repairs needed, Using hand tools, gages and measuring instruments to perform simple repairs. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Effort: Frequently lifts subassemblies or small weapons weighing 15 to 20 pounds. They often carry large assemblies or weapons weighing up to 50 pounds. Work requires walking, bending, and long periods of standing. Work requires reaching, turning or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls.
  • Working conditions: Works in a well lighted, heated, and ventilated building. Stands for long periods of time and is exposed to oil, grease, and solvents when cleaning and lubricating weapons. Frequently exposed to the possibility of minor cuts and bruises from tools or sharp edges of metal. Subjected to noise when test firing weapons. May work outside when operating vehicles in all kinds of weather. May be exposed to dirt, fumes, and to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents when loading and unloading the vehicle.
