Duties

Help
  • Provide health care management support through research, analysis, advisory, evaluation, consultation, and coordination of health care delivery services, systems and operations.
  • Develops, implements, improves, and manages Veterinary operating programs.
  • Responsibility includes developing, evaluating and adjusting current and new health care systems to maximize the utilization of the veterinary center for the care of Military animals.
  • Evaluate complex issues relative to the management of health care delivery systems, and recommends improvements in compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Assess the efficiency of operations for a variety of programs, to include mission accomplishment, quality and quantity of standards, procedures, and compliance.
  • Advise Leadership on veterinary health care delivery systems.

  • This position requires you to be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance of access for the duration of employment which includes a background investigation and credit check.
  • This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • This position requires travel away from duty station (TDY) up to and including 25% of the position's time. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience:

The position requires one year of specialized experience which includes: performing management analyses for special projects, analyzing administrative activities within a medical facility to identify trends with health systems processes; AND assisting in the development of facility procedures to increase efficiency. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
