Duties

Help
  • Develop long range organizational plans in conjunction with the Chief, Law Enforcement and Security Division.
  • Determine, through regular inspection and observations, the adequacy of security coverage and controls for each area of the depot.
  • Assign work to subordinate supervisors and relies on them to carry assignments through to completion.
  • Interpret and places into effect policies and instructions from higher authority.
  • Prepare and support estimates regarding budgetary requirements, basing estimates on past experience, anticipated workloads, and capabilities of the organization.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing. Must successfully complete drug screening.
  • Hours of work may fluctuate to include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Overtime may be required. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • Incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • Incumbent must successfully complete pre-employment and annual physical examination. (physical, emotional and mental stability, etc).
  • Incumbent may be required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other associated equipment, and may be require to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants.
  • Incumbent is required to pass entry level and/or annual re-certification of the physical readiness fitness test per AR 190-56 and/or local policy.
  • Incumbent required to possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • This position is covered by the l996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of l968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning, managing or evaluating law enforcement and security operations. Experience evaluating the performance of subordinates executing law enforcement and security duties, ensuring compliance with state, federal laws and organizational standard procedures. Overseeing ongoing criminal investigations ensuring adherence to procedures. Analyzing law enforcement reports and documents to ensure completion and accuracy. Preparing and implementing law enforcement and security policy instructions and procedures.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
