Duties

Help
  • You will assess impact across organizational lines to determine necessary interfacing required to achieve goals.
  • You will review facilities acquisition engineering designs to confirm quality and cost effective methods of accomplishing the required designs are used.
  • You will manage staff conducting facilities maintenance inspections and special technical investigations to verify facilities are being properly maintained.
  • You will follow-up on the status of open facilities work orders to check if work is moving toward completion.
  • You will conduct meetings with field supervisors and officials to verify the production effort is consistent with project priorities.
  • You will develop and maintain facilities maintenance policies and procedures to meet mission objectives.

  • This position may be required to work overtime on an emergency basis.
  • This position may require infrequent travel (5% or less) away from the normal duty station, on military or commercial aircraft, to attend training.
  • This position requires the incumbent to attend and successfully complete all Joint Base Safety Program CDSO training to satisfy mandatory requirements, and develop and remain proficient in performing CDSO duties.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

1) Providing facility and equipment service/maintenance activities for a command, organization, or department; 2) Reviewing work requests to ensure that they are complete and contain an accurate scope of work; 3) Acting as Liaison at review boards, providing prepared informational packages on maintenance activities for facilities, equipment and watercraft/vessels for installation planning and review; 4) Conducting site-visits throughout the harbor to collect inventory data, gain additional information on scopes of work and requests for repairs; 5) Verifying civilian and contractor work is being done per technical requirements, standards and design specifications and providing status to supervisor for projects not meeting requirements; 6) Serving as the point of contact for the commercial contractors and civilian employees performing maintenance, repair, alteration, construction, custodial and grounds keeping services.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
In addition to desk work, duties require some physical exertion when at construction site, such as: standing, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, climbing ladders and lifting moderately heavy equipment (<30 pounds).

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
In addition to work performed in an office setting that is well-lit, well-ventilated and well-heated, duties may require the incumbent to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Work requires going to construct sites weekly, subjecting the incumbent to hazardous situations (e.g. slips, trips, falls, loid noise, etc.) requiring the incumbent to follow all safety precautions including wearing personal protective gear (e.g. hard hat, steal toed boots, safety vest).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
OR
Have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
OR
Have successfully completed an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled.
OR
Have a combination of experience and education that equates to one year of experience. Percentage of education plus percentage of experience must equal 100%.
