Duties

Help
  • Install, maintain troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate and test electronic and direct digital controls and indicating and recording systems.
  • Operate system computers to include writing, installation, and backup of programs, history files, alarm data, and point status logs.
  • Install, modify, repair, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and load new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment.
  • Maintain industrial multiphase systems, thermocouple sensors, fire detection and suppression systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical circuits containing electronic components to isolate malfunctions (electrical vs. electronic) in complex relay logic circuits, computer interface devices, analog/digital controls, and solid-state motor control circuits.
  • Replace and repair circuit boards.
  • Perform annual testing and maintenance on hospital/clinic fire alarm systems.

  • This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): I have the ability to do the work of an Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common maintenance, repair and calibration of electronic and digital control systems, and electrical infrastructure and related systems. I can work with complex electronic and mechanical systems, analyze circuit signals to find problems, and interpret installation and repair instructions to troubleshoot control systems. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work assignments require moderate physical effort. Employee frequently lifts carries or otherwise handles items weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasionally they handle items greater than 50 pounds. Assistance is available with items over 50 pounds. Work in a sitting position for extended periods. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching and stooping is required. Occasionally, climbing and work in high places may be required when installation and repair are made on the fire system.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside and outside from ladders, scaffolding or platforms and occasionally in bad weather and noisy areas. Subject to electrical shocks, burns, gases, smoke, ashes, scalds, dust, sudden temperature changes, cuts, respiratory ailments, dirt, grease, bad smelling fumes, uncomfortable heat conditions, strains, scrapes, bruises, infections and broken bones
