Supervise professional and technical staff and oversee contractor personnel. Plan, assign, and review work. Guide, advise, coach, teach, and empower individuals and teams.
Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate programs for conservation and natural resources management, to include wildland fire, endangered species, fish and wildlife, inventory, monitoring, permitting, and compliance activities.
Provide input to the annual work plan, develop five-year plans, and make adjustments as needed for the Environmental Division. Prepare a variety of documents, to include correspondence, reports, briefing slides, and policy statements.
Serve as the Chief, Environmental Division. Responsible for installation conservation, natural, and cultural resources management.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continue, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
This has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in on of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
Employee must obtain and maintain Cyber work roles at proficiency level: 1) qualification requirements within 9 months, 2) Resident qualification requirements within 12 months, 3) 20hours of Continuous Professional Development per work role code.

Basic Requirement:
A. Have a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

B. Have a combination of education and experience which includes courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Specialized Experience:
Have one year of specialized experience which includes the following. 1) Working on environmental programs to comply with things such as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Endangered Species Act (ESA); 2) prepare or review environmental documentation or permits to ensure compliance; and 3) determine the impact of proposed projects on the environment or natural resources. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
