Duties

Help
  • Supervise professional and technical staff and oversee contractor personnel. Plan, assign, and review work. Guide, advise, coach, teach, and empower individuals and teams.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate programs for conservation and natural resources management, to include wildland fire, endangered species, fish and wildlife, inventory, monitoring, permitting, and compliance activities.
  • Provide input to the annual work plan, develop five-year plans, and make adjustments as needed for the Environmental Division. Prepare a variety of documents, to include correspondence, reports, briefing slides, and policy statements.
  • Serve as the Chief, Environmental Division. Responsible for installation conservation, natural, and cultural resources management.

  • This has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in on of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • Employee must obtain and maintain Cyber work roles at proficiency level: 1) qualification requirements within 9 months, 2) Resident qualification requirements within 12 months, 3) 20hours of Continuous Professional Development per work role code.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement:

A. Have a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
B. Have a combination of education and experience which includes courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience:


Have one year of specialized experience which includes the following. 1) Working on environmental programs to comply with things such as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Endangered Species Act (ESA); 2) prepare or review environmental documentation or permits to ensure compliance; and 3) determine the impact of proposed projects on the environment or natural resources. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
