Duties

Help
  • You will be planning, managing, directing, evaluating and effective operations of police support services
  • You will exercise control in administration, supply, maintenance information management, resource management, recruitment and public relations
  • You will approve leave requests; plan and coordinate programs of specialized training.
  • You will obtain data for identifying law enforcement problem areas, conduct detailed planning, and coordinate work force deployment.
  • You will receive, review and approve reports, reviews, surveys and records.
  • You will maintain and monitored integrated reporting systems and data bases affecting programs.
  • You will establish standard operating procedures for the control of personal weapons and ammunition stored or transported aboard the installation.
  • You will draft administrative policies and procedures and monitors implementation of new or revised procedures.

  • The DON does not employ individuals for Law Enforcement Officer positions who have been convicted of a crime of domestic violence on or after 27 November 2002. You must submit DD Form 2760, Qualification to Possess Firearms before appointment.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. Must pass a sanctioned physical agility test and medical evaluation and pass a periodic re-tests as required.
  • You must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and be able to maintain a U.S. Government emergency vehicle operator's license.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • You must pass all weapons qualifications prior to assigned duties and responsibilities and must pass all re-qualification's as required. You must carry firearms.
  • This position is considered Mission Essential. The incumbent must ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Position is subject to shift work and is subject to 24-hour recall and will maintain a 24-hour recall notification number and is required per installation policy/SOP. May be subject to being interrupted from meal or other work breaks while on duty.
  • Must be 18 years of age. Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Required to wear a uniform and maintain appearance and grooming standards per Marine Corps Orders/polices. Overtime may be required
  • This position does not meet the definition of law enforcement officer (LEO) and is excluded from coverage as LEO or purposes of the Federal Retirement System-Base Annuity IAW 5 CFR Part 842 Subpart H
  • Must meet medical standards for police officers in DoD 6055.05M and NMCPHC-TM OM 6260
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Must pass the Police Applicant Suitability Review (PASR) investigation.
  • Must complete a designated entry level training for USMC Police Officer Course of Instruction (Basic Police Officer Course) conducted at a designated location in an academy setting where candidate will train alongside Marines.
  • As first responders to chemical/biological attacks, must be able to train and wear personal and protective equipment to include mask, boots, suits and gloves
  • If incumbent is conducting law enforcement operations in navigable waters, incumbent must attend the Inland Boat Operator Training Program at FLETC or similar course.
  • Failure to meet conditions of employment may result in disciplinary action or termination.

Qualifications

(GS-12) Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Supervising Police Officers and personnel assigned to the Services Divisions while managing, directing and evaluating operations of police support services programs such as police records, administration, supply, crime prevention, physical security, training, pass and registration, installation access control, lost and found, vehicle impound, animal control, statistical reporting and analysis, and police/court liaison.

This position requires rotating shift work.
