You will serve as a FUEL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM INSPECTOR in the QUALITY DIVISION, FUELS DEPARTMENT, DEPUTY LOGISTICS SERVICES DIRECTORATE of MCAS CHERRY POINT.
Summary
You will serve as a FUEL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM INSPECTOR in the QUALITY DIVISION, FUELS DEPARTMENT, DEPUTY LOGISTICS SERVICES DIRECTORATE of MCAS CHERRY POINT.
DoD Military Spouse Preference (MSP) eligibles, DoD Military Reserve (MR) and National Guard (NG) Technician Preference eligibles and DoD Retained Grade Preference eligibles and VEOA eligibles.
You will clear fuel lines; open or close valves in proper sequence to provide an open pipeline from shipment point of origin to destination in accordance with pipeline transfer schedules and related instructions.
You will record valve settings; initiate, control, and terminate fuel transfer; record gauge readings received from shipping, receiving, and transfer points and prepare a report of transfer.
You will direct loading and unloading of railcars, tankers, trucks, aircraft, storage tanks and various fuel receipt and issue points throughout the fuel distribution system.
You will collect fuel samples from railcars, tankers, bulk storage tanks, fill stands, nozzles, mobile refuelers, filters, and separators to conduct on site visual tests in accordance with current Naval Air Systems Command (NA VAIR) instructions.
You will monitor equipment at frequent intervals for quality surveillance of fuels received and issued.
You will inspect and conduct quality surveillance of aviation fuel entering and exiting the fuel distribution system via the pipeline, storage tanks, pumps, fill stands, trucks, mobile refuelers and hydrant system.
Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
This position requires rotating shift work.
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
