Duties

Help

The CYP Operations Clerk performs a combination of duties related to one or more components of the CYP. Duties are related to record keeping and reporting, liaison with families and programs, and collection and monitoring of fees and supplies. These tasks are summarized below.

Prepares and maintains assigned reports, correspondence, and statistical and financial data pertaining to components within the CYP.
Ensures child registration and enrollment paperwork is complete and current.
Reviews and submits completed paperwork for background checks.
Maintains office files and records.
Provides front desk coverage, logs children in and out of the facility, and informs and answers questions regarding programs and services, patron financial obligations, waiting lists, events, and policies and procedures.
Takes telephone calls and responds to inquiries, referring calls to supervisor or other personnel when appropriate.
Performs assigned resource and referral duties and assists in maintaining current waiting list.
Responsible for monitoring all supplies and resources. Notifies supervisor of items that need to be ordered.
Serves as a mandatory reporter to Family Advocacy and Child Protective Services as prescribed by local policy in the case of suspected incidences of child abuse and neglect.
Computes and collects fees of youth program participants.
Completes daily cashier's reports and inputs information into required forms and file plans.
Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must satisfactorily complete all background checks for child care positions, including fingerprint checks, a Tier 1 with Child Care check.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical, provide evidence of immunization, be free of all communicable diseases, and obtain appropriate immunization against communicable diseases.
  • Ability to complete required training certificates, and maintain certifications or credentials required by Federal, State, and/or national accreditation institutions used as part of DoD's Child and Youth Programs.
  • Incumbent may work an uncommon tour of duty to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
A qualified candidate possesses the following:
  • Ability to maintain accurate reports and records and military style documents.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of administrative support functions.
  • Knowledge of general office automation software, practices and procedures in order to accomplish various work assignments.
  • Experience which has demonstrated arithmetic aptitude and ability, accuracy and attention to detail; progressively responsible experience in receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit, custody, or other processing of cash and cash items.
  • Must be a qualified typist. Skill in dealing with the public.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does allow for education substitution in order to qualify.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
