Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR), Child and Youth Services (CYS) Employee Childcare Fee applicable to employees working at least 15 hours per week:

Help
  • Apply a practical knowledge of youth recreational activities and skills in the use of various types of recreation equipment. Instruct children/youth on proper use of variety of equipment. Issues/receives recreational equipment.
  • Identifies age-appropriate equipment for procurement, selects vendor, and purchases gear/equipment as needed. Maintain hand receipts and collects all inventoried items. Inspects supplies and equipment for damage.
  • Ensures sufficient supplies are on hand and equipment in good condition. Assists in setting up sports events and may assist in athletic programs as needed. Maintains an effective safety and accident prevention program.
  • Conducts daily safety and maintenance checks of facilities, grounds, and outdoor recreation areas. Recommends purchase of equipment required to maintain proper facility safety compliance.
  • Operates various types of equipment for athletic field maintenance (lawn mowers, tractors with attachments, edging and pruning tools, trimmers, rakes, etc. Applies fertilizer, seed, and herbicides. Collects and empties trash containers.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
  • The Crime Control Act must be successfully completed and maintained.
  • A health assessment is required. Satisfactory performance, successful completion of training requirements and demonstrated on the job competency is required.
  • Travel to on and off post locations required. Positions that require driving require the incumbent to have a valid driver's license.
  • May be subject to varying and/or rotating shifts between the hours of 06:00 AM and 06:00 PM to include occasional evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
  • The dual compensation guidelines DO NOT apply to this position. All GS and NAF employees whether fulltime or part time are eligible to apply for this position.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

1. Progressively responsible work experience that provided knowledge of equipment and facility maintenance, inventory, ordering and instructing
2. Use of various recreation equipment
3. Good customer relations skills
4. Must be physical able to walk, bend, stoop, stand on a routine basis
5. Lift supplies and equipment weighing up 50 pounds.

Allowances and Differentials
  • This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid.
Other:
  • As an added employee incentive, the Department of Defense (DoD) granted approval to extend temporary limited commissary privileges (excluding the purchase of tobacco or alcohol products) to CYS employees. This temporary approval expires 31 December 2026.
