Physical Demands: Incumbent mut be capable of climb in over and under equipment, onto catwalks, roof areas, in and out of boiler manholes, work in confined spaces and other isolated areas. Work for extended periods in uncomfortable positions. Work typically requires bending, stooping, crawling, and climbing ladders. Workes frequently lift and carry boiler parts and chemical supplies weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted and occasionally items weighing over 40 pounds with assistance from other workers and handling equipment.

Background Investigation Requirement:
This position requires the successful completion of a federal background investigation as a condition of employment.

WAGE GRADE STATEMENT: Candidates for this position will be evaluated under the Federal Wage System (FWS) Job Grading Standards. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Physical effort is expended in continually standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in small or cramped quarters. Frequently carries, lifts, pulls or pushes carts and equipment weighing up to and beyond 50 pounds. Work is sometimes performed on ladders and/or scaffolds which requires employee to work overhead or in stretched, cramped or awkward positions.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
