As a Physician, GS-0602-15, the incumbent serves as a Medical Officer to the PPG Director and Deputy Director. PPG has responsibility for cross-cutting operational and policy functions across CMMI's entire portfolio of payment models and initiatives.

Provides clinical expertise and guidance - Serve as a Medical Officer to PPG leadership by providing clinical, scientific, and technical guidance on the design and direction of CMMI payment models and initiatives.
Develops and refines payment and service delivery models - Design, plan, implement, and test innovative payment and health care service delivery models, including Advanced APMs, Medicare, Medicaid, and integrated care delivery models.
Serves as a clinical subject matter expert and quality advisor on quality initiatives, leading the development, refinement, and alignment of electronic and digital quality measures across CMMI models and CMS quality programs.
Analyzes program performance and resolves policy issues - Review, analyze, and evaluate model implementation, identify trends and program issues, measure progress toward goals, and develop policy and program improvement options.
Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with providers, medical specialty groups, advocacy organizations, contractors, academia, state and legislative entities, professional associations, Congress, and other health care stakeholders.
Represents PPG and CMMI before national health care organizations and other external audiences.

Such programs are in hospitals or other institutions accredited for internship training by a recognized body of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) .
A fellowship program involves advanced training (beyond residency training) in a given medical specialty in either a clinical or research setting in a hospital or an institution accredited in the United States for such training.
