Duties

Help

As a SUPERVISORY HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST at the GS-0201-14 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Serves as the Subject Matter Expert and technical authority on human resources management work in the area of Performance Management, Work Life, Honorary and Incentive Awards, and Special Programs.
  • Responsible for identifying actual or potential problems, emerging patterns, and new developments affecting the performance management programs in the Agency.
  • Keeps abreast of HR regulations, policies, laws, and operating program developments to effectively assist management in conducting their leadership responsibilities in these program areas.
  • Strategic partner to managers and supervisor on all aspects of these programs, and provides guidance, recommendations, and solutions as required.
  • Supervise and develop subordinate staff by assigning work, evaluating performance, managing hiring and promotions, resolving complaints, and establishing training plans.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service:

  • Exercise supervisory, managerial, or senior team lead authority over a team of human resources professionals, including planning and assigning work, mentoring and coaching staff, evaluating performance, and identifying developmental needs.
  • Serve as a technical authority on human resources management programs, specifically in the areas of Performance Management, Work-Life, and Special Programs (i.e. Telework, Reasonable Accommodation, Employee Assistance Program, Flexible Work Schedules, and/or Awards).
  • Analyze and interpret legislative, regulatory, and policy guidance to identify emerging trends, potential problems, and developments affecting HR programs.
  • Plan and evaluate human resources programs by setting strategic short- and long-term goals and monitoring outcomes to recommend improvements to business practices.
  • Provide advisory services, briefings, and technical assistance to managers and supervisors on the application of performance management systems and processes, and other work-life policies/programs.
  • Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by HR within 30 calendar days after the EOD (i.e., start date). The selectee's inability successfully pass; or refusal to conduct the test may result in: 1) the tentative or FJO being withdrawn during the recruitment process; or 2) subsequently being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment.
You may be required to sign a "Drug Test Statement of Understanding" if you are selected for this position.

Status candidates must meet time-in-grade requirements (52 weeks at the next lower grade level).
