This position is located in the Administrative Services Division (ASD), Office of the Administrator, National Gallery of Art (NGA).  The primary purpose of this position is to assist with the planning, coordinating and overseeing of personal property, logistics and transportation functions to NGA staff. 

Duties for this position include:

  • Assists the supervisor with logistics operations that include the operation, safeguard, maintenance and dispatch of Gallery-owned, commercially leased, and General Services Administration (GSA) leased vehicles.  Ensures staff adheres to NGA transportation policies and procedures. 
  • Monitors Gallery vehicles to ensure they are operated, inspected and maintained in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations and GSA regulations. 
  • Monitors Gallery fleet vehicles to ensure they are maintained in peak operating condition by performing GSA-mandated routine preventive maintenance and adhering to the manufacturer's recommended service schedules, including any available Recall or Technical Service Bulletin. 
  • Monitors transportation work order requests to ensure the delivery of timely and quality customer service to stakeholders; and coordinates with dispatcher to reallocate manpower and resources based on workload, customer demands and supervisor instructions. 
  • Communicates with department, division and executive offices and maintains professional contacts with key NGA managers to provide continuous approvals of the services being provided.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Statement: Candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in responsibility to the GS-07 level in the Federal service or private sector. Specialized Experience for this position is; experience using GSA Fleet; ServiceNow; and Microsoft Excel, experience managing a motor vehicle fleet AND experience tracking mileage, vehicle maintenance, and analyzing data related to fleet management to make informed decisions.

Undergraduate Education: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree, in an accredited college or university, is qualifying for GS-5 level positions.

Graduate Education: Major study -- public administration, business administration, industrial engineering, industrial management, or other administrative or management fields related to the position to be filled. For some positions in this series graduate education may not provide the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience may be required for such positions. One full academic year of graduate-level education is creditable for GS-7; 2 years or a master's or equivalent graduate degree is creditable for GS-9.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also qualifying for grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable.
