Help

The major duties of the Supervisory Intelligence Research Specialist position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Serves as the primary division intelligence subject matter expert, acting as the division's intelligence liaison to other internal and external partners.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to the field intelligence group and directs and or coordinates assigned task studies or projects of which may cross-functional lines and may involve other government agencies or the industry.
  • Plans, coordinates and oversees the effective development of CGIC programs. Managing intelligence efforts, investigations, strategies and technologies use to gather, analyze, and evaluate.
  • Ensures the field division's intelligence efforts are coordinated with the field division SAC and all requests and referrals from OSII are responded to in a timely manner.
  • Ensures criminal intelligence developed within their field division is documented in ATF's case management systems in accordance with ATF policy.
  • Ensuring criminal intelligence information reports, advisors, alerts, and assessments submitted by subordinates meet the standard reasonable indication. Plans, coordinates and oversees the effective development of CGIC.
This position is located under the Office of Field Operations -located in Glendale, CA (Los Angeles Field Division), (Miami Field Division) and (Washington Field Division).

The employees will report to the below field offices: Glendale IV (Intel), Miami III (CGIC) and Washington IV (CGIC) offices.

  4. You must be a current permanent Bureaus of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives employee with competitive status or a CTAP/RPL eligible candidate.
  5. Pass drug screening and subject to random drug testing.
  6. Suitable for Federal employment determined by background investigation.
  7. You must meet all applicable time-in-grade requirements by the closing of this announcement.

MOBILITY PLAN: New employees hired pursuant to this vacancy announcement must sign a mobility agreement. The purpose of ATF's mobility policy is to enhance career development and progression, and achieve mission and business effectiveness. To accomplish these objectives, the mobility plan will facilitate the movement of employees through special short-term assignments or permanent reassignments throughout the Bureau. Qualifications

To qualify for the Supervisory Intelligence Research Specialist position at the GS-14 level, you must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Minimum Qualifications

Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume.

To qualify for this position at the GS-14 grade level, candidates must meet the following specialized experience by the closing date of this announcement. EXPERIENCE: Candidates must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13).

This experience must include all of the following:
  • Providing leadership and guidance to the field intelligence groups; AND
  • Directing and/or coordinating assigned special studies or projects of which may cross functional lines and may involve other government agencies or the industry; AND
  • Extracting, compiling, and analyzing factual information to be used for conducting intelligence research in support of investigative operations.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone. No substitution of education for experience is permitted.
