  • You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the OPERATIONS DIVISION (N3) at NAVAL COMPUTER AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS STATION HAMPTON ROADS DETACHMENT.
  • You will serve as the Telecommunications Supervisor for the station.
  • You will be responsible for providing supervision in the operation, maintenance and repair of the AN/FRT-31 Very Low Frequency (VLF) radio transmitter.
  • You will participate with the Transmission Deck Manager in the planning of work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs and recommendations for scheduling projected work.
  • You will develop, implement, and administer the divisional training program with emphasis on ensuring that a team of highly trained personnel is maintained.
  • You will investigate work related problems such as low productivity, excessive costs and implement corrective action and recommend solutions to staffing problems.
  • You will be responsible for the technical operation and repair of all communication systems and equipment.
  • You will furnish the Transmission Deck Manager information pertaining to operational and maintenance problems, material and/or parts required, hazardous maintenance and/or operating conditions.
  • You will maintain the Maintenance Material and Management System (3M) and serve as the Transmission Deck Supervisor ensuring proper protection of communication security (COMSEC) material and equipment.

  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by:

-Experience operating and maintaining Very Low Frequency (VLF) communication systems such as transmitters, antennas, and associated support systems or similar systems.
-Experience reading and interpreting complex technical manuals, schematics and wiring diagrams.
-Experience utilizing computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite or similar programs.
-Experience preparing electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.

Must be able to operate a government vehicle up to and including a pickup truck.

Physical requirements include moderate/heavy lifting, heavy carrying, repeated bending, walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and the use of both hands and eyes.

The work environment consists of both indoor and outdoor settings with exposure to excessive heat/cold and noise.

Accommodates demanding operational schedules, which may require shift work and rotating shifts, weekend and holiday work, and overtime, requiring the management of fatigue factors associated with long work shifts.

The Cyber Interagency Transfer Authority (CITA) permits movement of CES employees appointed under Section 1599f of Title 10 U.S.C. and excepted service employees appointed under Schedule A, Section 213.3106(b)(11) of Title 5 CFR, into cyber workforce positions in the competitive service and movement of competitive service employees into DoD Cyber Workforce positions within the Military Departments and Defense Agencies.
