Duties

Help
  • You will assist with the execution and management of command administrative programs.
  • You will provide administrative services to command personnel including, receiving office visitors, managing schedules, tracking supply inventory, typing, filing, answering incoming telephone calls, and maintaining administrative records.
  • You will provide bi-monthly budget reports to the commanding officer on the status of funding balances.
  • You will perform pay, personnel, and travel transactions at the appropriate level per established policies, procedures, and system capabilities.
  • You will procure supplies, equipment, and furniture and assist staff in obtaining supplies as needed.
  • You will provide information to command personnel pertaining to administrative procedures and established policies.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

For the GS-09 Grade Level:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying practical knowledge of Navy administration principles, theories, techniques, programs, and objectives which pertain to the administrative process of the command to interpret administrative policies, coordinate and plan administrative services for various programs, and recommend adjustments to meet operational needs. Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Identifying and analyzing problems, weighing relevance and accuracy of information, and generating and evaluating alternative perspectives or solutions; 2) Making timely and effective recommendations based on potential implications of findings or conclusions; 3) Identifying the causes of problems and choosing courses of action that balance the interests of the mission and stakeholders; 4) Utilizing the ability to select, acquire, store, or distribute an organization's resources, such as materials, equipment, financial resources, and/or information technology (IT) in the most efficient way possible; 5) Performing work such as preparing, receiving, reviewing, and verifying documents; and 6) Maintaining office records, locating and compiling data or information from files, compiling information for reports, managing a calendar, and informing others of deadlines and other important dates.

For the GS-07 Grade Level:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying practical knowledge of Navy administration principles, theories, techniques, programs, and objectives to coordinate and plan administrative services for various programs. Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Identifying and analyzing problems, weighing relevance and accuracy of information, and evaluating alternative solutions; 2) Identifying the causes of problems and choosing courses of action that balance the interests of the mission and stakeholders; 3) Utilizing the ability to select, acquire, store, or distribute an organization's resources, such as materials, equipment, financial resources, and/or information technology (IT) in the most efficient way possible; and 4) Performing work such as preparing, receiving, reviewing, and verifying documents and maintaining office records/files.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

For the GS-09 Grade Level:
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree
OR

A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience

For the GS-07 Grade Level:
Successful completion of 1 full year of graduate level education
