This position is located at US Mint, Manufacturing Directorate - West Point - Production Division. As a Production Machinery Mechanic, you will receive assignments that are designed to develop broader and more in-depth knowledge and skills needed to perform higher-level assignments. As overall knowledge and skill is gained, more reliance will be placed on the incumbent until full responsibility for assignments is assumed.

Duties

Help

As a Production Machinery Mechanic, you will:

  • Troubleshoot and repair techniques, inspection, loading and maintenance operations in the production of coins, sorting, coin destruction, shipping & receiving, upsetting, stamping, die control, packaging, laboring and the use of other equipment and machines.
  • Operate and monitor electronic controller and rolling equipment, primarily in the area of destruction of coinage and metal blanks
  • Be responsible for the proper paperwork, preparation for shipment, and the use of the floor and tabletop scales.
  • Be responsible for notifying the proper personnel at the time of shipment

  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.

  • Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.

  • Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
  • Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis, 5 days a week. Work schedules may vary and assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be available to work on all three shifts on a rotational basis.
  • Pass a pre-employment physical examination.
  • May be required to wear safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
