This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT ELECTRICIAN, Position Description Number D2850000 and D286000 and is part of the KS AASF 2, Salina, KS, Kansas National Guard.
Current members of the Kansas Army National Guard or current or prior service military members who are eligible to become a member of the Kansas Army National Guard.
As an AIRCRAFT ELECTRICIAN, WG-2892-08/10, you will functionally test, troubleshoot, inspect, adjust, align, calibrate, repair and overhaul the entire range of aircraft electrical systems to insure maximum operating efficiency. This includes general, major, and limited depot maintenance on Army fixed and/or rotor wing aircraft, and unmanned aircraft systems. These duties include repair and overhaul of complex power, control, and warning systems such as: master control panels and analyzing units which monitor and regulate engine operations; master caution panels; voltage regulators and supervisory panels; AC and DC generators for regulations and load capacity plus voltage checks; starters for slippage and breakaway torque; inverters for input and outputs for proper voltage, amperage, and frequency; service both lead- acid and nickel cadmium type batteries; indicating instruments and fuel quantity indicating systems; linear actuators; electronic and electrical control units governing air conditioning and other utility systems. Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5-day workweek, then a 4-day workweek (eight 9-hour days and one 8-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80-hour pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements.
Physical Effort
Physical efforts involve climbing, stooping, standing, bending, stretching, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions, Lifts equipment and components weighing from 20 to 50 pounds, and occasionally lifts and carries items weighing over 50 pounds. Physical efforts are the same throughout all levels.
Working Conditions
Works inside and outside, in inclement weather, on icy, wet, and slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces and work stand. Subject to the dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, high pressure air and fluids, fast actuating metal aircraft surfaces such as landing gears, speed brakes, missile doors, and flaps, and electrical shocks. Subject to the hazards of engine suction, noise, fumes, heat, blast, and rotating propellers and rotors.
This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.
Qualifications
Military Grades: E4 through E7
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training which has provided a knowledge and skill in locating and tying in the electrical systems with the aircraft armament, electronics, and instrument systems; adjusting and calibrating the components of the various electrical systems; reading and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE WG 08: Must have experience or training in installing, maintaining and repairing aircraft electrical systems. Experience which demonstrates the ability to diagnose and determine repairs.Experience in the use of common hand tools and measuring equipment. Experience which provided ability to lay out, set up and perform operations dependent on electrical and electronic theory and instruments.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE WG 10: Must have experience or training installing, maintaining, repairing and modifying electrical systems and major substation components of electrical system. Experience diagnosing malfunctions and determining remedy when complex relationships exists among different electrical system circuits requiring knowledge of all electrical units and systems. Experience making electrical repairs that require the use of precision measuring equipment and common hand tools. Experience in the setup and operation of computerized multiple circuit analyzing equipment in manual, semiautomatic, or automatic mode to run existing and new (not fully debugged) diagnostic programs to test and analyze aircraft electrical circuitry and interconnecting cabling of systems such as navigational computers, radar, and related equipment and to repair discrepancies.
