Duties

Help
  • Removes garbage or debris from interior and exterior facilities.
  • Maintains playgrounds, athletic fields, preparing fields for specific event, setting up and moving sports apparatus etc.
  • Maintains school floors and/or exterior sidewalls.
  • Operate heavy powered equipment to maintain landscaping duties.
  • Utilize directions and sequences for tasks such as chemical application to lawn and ice during inclement weather.

  • This position requires a Tier 1 (T1) investigation with Childcare Checks since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Laborer Removing debris from surface areas; utilizing landscaping equipment to maintain lawn and groundswithout more than normal supervision. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

  • Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision
  • Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation)
  • Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
  • Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean and in order)
  • Physical Effort: Requires very heavy physical effort such as frequently lifting and moving objects over 50 pounds (moving, setting up and working from ladders and scaffolds).
  • Working Condition: Works outside in all kinds of weather and inside in areas that may be dusty, dirty, noisy and have other adverse working conditions. The equipment, tools and tasks involved frequently require special care to avoid serious injuries. Occasionally, is exposed to skin irritations from strong cleaning solutions used in stripping floors, etc. and to serious injuries (e.g., broken bones) from falls from ladders and scaffolds
