As a SUPPORT SERVICES SPECIALIST (TITLE 32), GS-0342-9, you will managing, planning, and coordinating a variety of administrative support services for an installation and/or state operations, to include, but not limited to, communication, correspondence, records management, mail and task management, procurement, budget, protocol, reports, personnel, and special programs.

Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:

  • Support official records and information management programs and initiatives.
  • Control, organize, guide, and train the force to achieve Activity information resource goals and objectives.
  • Implement records management objectives and goals, policies, and requirements to accomplish tasks.
  • Coordinate with subject matter authorities/experts and records coordinators to ensure process is fully integrated with the organization's records management program.
  • Acts as a Records Manager for the agency's automated archive records management system, with organization-wide responsibility for ensuring the creation and preservation of official mission records throughout the installation and/or state.
  • Review and approve agency file plans for installation and/or state, ensuring compliance with and enforcement of National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), Dept. of Defense (DOD), and Dept. of Army (DA) policies and rules governing management information requirements under the Army records management system.
  • Conduct and/or facilitate specialized training sessions and briefings on records/information management.
  • Provide technical assistance to staff elements, units and activities with regard to establishment and operation of records systems.
  • Execute initial training for newly appointed records coordinators and annual refresher training thereafter.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the Illinois National Guard and in the military grade listed in the announcement.   • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • IAW The Fair Chance Act, Agency employees may not request criminal history information at the point of initial application, upon receipt of an application, or prior to, during or after a job interview. If an Optional Form (OF) 306, Declaration of Employment is submitted prior to the point of a conditional offer, questions related to background information section may not be asked.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • Must possess privileged level permissions, to manage official records within system of records platforms (i.e. Army 365 SharePoint Online).
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code ยง 709), will be in the following manner and sequence,

  • The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
  • The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees.
  • The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible.
  • The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership.
  • The FIFTH area of consideration will be all U.S. Citizens.

Military Grades: Enlisted/Warrant Officer/Officer - NTE O5

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-9 Level MUST possess at least 1-year of specialized experience, education or training equivalent to at least the next lower grade level of GS-7; experience, education, or training dealing with management principles and supervisory responsibility for support service functions required by type of position to be filled and the organization involved.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
