The position serves as a Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD) Program Manager and specialist for all BARD patron-facing products in the Patron Engagement Section (PES), Patron and Network Engagement Division, National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS), Library Collections and Services Group.

As the Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD) Program Manager and specialist, you will:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert in the development, implementation, and distribution of all versions of the product.
  • Review and analyze all BARD patron-facing products to ensure continuity in operation, consistency in delivery, high-level of accessibility, and that all patron considerations have been met.
  • Coordinate all patron-facing customer service and technical support for all BARD products. This includes BARD on the web, BARD Mobile for iOS, BARD Mobile for Android, BARD Mobile for Fire Devices, BARD Express, Digital Advanced (DA2) Talking Book machine, and the My Talking Book Skill.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the various BARD initiatives, NLS patrons, and other NLS stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • The salary range indicated reflects the locality pay adjustments for the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan area.
  • The incumbent of this position will work a Flexitime work schedule.
  • This is a non-supervisory, non-bargaining unit position.

Applicants must have had progressively responsible experience and training sufficient in scope and quality to furnish them with an acceptable level of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position without more than normal supervision.

Although it is the Library's policy to afford the maximum pay benefit to employees when setting rates of pay, a new appointee who has had no previous Federal service will generally be paid at step one of the grade.
