The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) System Delta 81 (SYD 81) at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado is searching for a Logistics Space Specialist (NH-0346-03, GS 12/13 equivalent).

Description:
As a Logistics Management Specialist within SYD 81, you will serve as a key enabler for the USSF by directing, defining, and enforcing comprehensive logistics management, product support, and facility management processes in direct support of the Program Area Director and the SYD 81 Commander. In this critical leadership role, you will oversee the movement of personnel and equipment, coordinate essential logistics support, and deliver expert training guidance across the organization to bolster live and digital testing, training, wargaming, and exercise capabilities. Your efforts will directly sustain the critical infrastructure and mission-readiness systems required to project power across vital space warfare domains, including Orbital, Electromagnetic, and Cyber Warfare, as well as highly classified Special Programs.

The ideal candidate for this position will have earned a technical or business bachelor's degree and possess a Foundational Certification in Life Cycle Logistics. In addition, it is desirable that the candidate possess a Foundational Certification in one other functional area such as Program Management, Engineering, Financial Management, or similar sustainment related certification. It is highly desirable that the candidate possess a strong Space background, have 10+ years delivering Materiel Capabilities/Sustainment to DoD Warfighters; and possess a military/civil service background in operations, support or maintenance. The candidate will be a DoD and USAF/USSF policy expert, a skilled technical and managerial analyst, an innovative action officer, and a strong leader.

The ideal candidate is an accomplished leader with at least 10 years of experience spanning logistics management, defense acquisitions, and comprehensive product support, backed by a proven track record of directing complex operations and overseeing facility management. Possessing deep expertise in Life Cycle Logistics and product support frameworks-ideally validated by a professional logistics certification-you are prepared to lead and inspire a diverse, multi-disciplinary team of military personnel, Government civilians, and support contractors. As a master communicator, you excel at translating strategic guidance from senior leadership into clear, actionable direction, ensuring seamless alignment and operational excellence across the entire organization.

Key Skills and Abilities:

  1. Knowledge of a principles, concepts, procedures, standards, and techniques of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) sufficient to plan and execute a complex and difficult product support program; and to apply new developments to issues for which previous techniques are frequently inadequate.
  2. Knowledge of the missions, roles, function, organizational structures, and operation of the Department of Defense, and other entities that govern, interface with, and/or influence the systems acquisition and sustainment process and integrated life cycle management.
  3. Ability to plan, analyze, and coordinate a system or portion of a major system's acquisition and transfer into operational use, sustainment and disposal; to include the identification and correlation of specific requirements for money, manpower, material, facilities, and services needed to support the program; and to develop and analyze data to determine logistic objectives and goals, identify support requirements(including funding, contract development, and other technical support requirements), and establish relationships between the participants involved in deploying the plan.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, with technical accuracy and to use computers and a variety of software programs and databases. Gather and analyze a variety of program information, make sound judgments concerning program progress, and effectively communicate recommendations orally and in writing to higher organizational management and contractors

  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
  • This position has been designated for drug testing. Incumbent is subject to random urinalysis testing as a condition of employment.
  • Employee must within 30-days of assuming this position and by 31 October annually thereafter, file an OGE-450, “Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.” Employee is required to attend annual ethics and procurement integrity training.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • Employee may work extended or other than normal duty hours to include evenings/weekends and may be subject to recall. Incumbent may work during base exercises/contingencies/emergency situations and overtime/comp time/credit hours may be required.
  • This position is part of the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP).
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Station (TDY) approximately 20 days per year.
  • PCS is not authorized. Incentive is not authorized.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed “Unscheduled Telework”.
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
  • The employee’s locality pay will be determined by the employee’s official worksite location, not the organization’s regular worksite and may impact the employee’s Reduction in Force (RIF) competitive area.
