Help
  • Cleans rooms, corridors, stairways, and other areas.
  • Sweeps, mops, vacuums, scrubs, strips and polishes using light and heavy duty powered equipment.
  • Performs routine maintenance of equipment. Cleans, disinfects and deodorizes toilet facilities. Cleans, and dusts assigned areas. Empties trash.
  • Maintains stock of room and cleaning supplies to perform assigned duties
  • Uses and maintains mechanical equipment to clean rugs, drapes, etc.

  • A one-year probationary period may be required.

  • Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
  • Must meet physical requirements of the position. Successful completion of a pre-employment physical is required.
  • Physical Effort: Required standing and walking on hard and carpeted surfaces with some bending, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of items or carts weighing up to 20 to 40 pounds, and occasionally over 50 pounds.
  • Working Conditions: Exposure to dirt and disagreeable odors, vibration from use of heavy equipment, and to skin irritations from strong cleaning solutions.
  • Must be able to work a schedule that may include working some nights, weekends, and possible holidays.

Allowances and Differentials
  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.

Joint Base Lewis-McChord consists of the combined forces of the US Army's Fort Lewis and the US Air Force's McChord Air Force Base which officially merged to create "JBLM" in 2010.

Located in the heart of the Pacific Northwest's Puget Sound region, JBLM consists of 87,000 acres of prairie land cut from the glacier-flattened Nisqually Plain.
