Serves as the Logistics Management Specialist with responsibility for direction and control of logistics planning that includes multiple activities and may include geographically separated areas where no supply chain management personnel are assigned.
The primary purpose of this position is to direct, develop and implement policy programs and procedures for accurate Supply Chain Management planning and management with heavy emphasis on new and existing system integration and training efforts with Federal Electronic Health Record deployment at the station and higher levels as well as the development and training of staff assigned to the Supply Chain Management section located within the Harry S. Truman VAMC catchment area.
Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Integration - Resolves or contributes to the resolution of assigned high-priority logistics, supply, distribution, information or service problems through personal action or immediate coordination with required local personnel/activities. Establishes procedures for the integrated efforts of SCM operations with services throughout the VAMC and supported activities for mission essential deployment of SCM EMRT planning. Ensures that all assigned personnel and equipment are properly identified and prepared for deployment during simulated and actual emergency response exercises. Performs logistical assessments of strategic supply support in coordination with the supported customers and alerts management of systemic problems. Troubleshoots and resolves issues where supply chain deficiencies affect the mission. Develops designated supply input for fiscal year and long-range plans and programs, analyzing material for reasonableness, consistency, and validity of various assumptions.
Analytics - Analyzes the effectiveness of logistics and vendor support services. Develops ongoing strategic analyses across supply chain activities and recommends solutions for improvements. Researches and studies private industry as well as Department of Veteran Affairs best practices to develop and apply concepts that best fit and support Supply Chain requirements. Supports long range supply chain requirements and interactions, optimizing supply chain support.
Training and Customer Service - Develops logistics and supply chain management training opportunities and customer supply chain systems, programs, support offerings, supplies and services to collaborative partners and customers. Participates in the development of education and training documentation. Communicates with customers and personnel on the role logistics plays in maintaining comprehensive logistics support, operational readiness and sustainability.
System integration - Assists with the integration of new logistics, distribution and information systems into existing SCM operations. Detailing policies and procedures. Assists with the evaluation, troubleshooting, and optimization of existing logistics and supply chain positions. Working to resolve deficiencies and improve existing processes to support long-range planning to support and enhance overall supply chain effectiveness and readiness.

Specialized Experience: To qualify for this position at the GS-12 level, you must meet have possess at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of a Logistics Management Specialist and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience includes, serving as a team lead or senior specialist in supply chain management, assisting with the direction and control of logistics planning; analyze product delivery or supply chain processes to identify or recommend changes; performing data analysis, and statistical analysis to identify improvement opportunities. This position requires some degree of specialized knowledge and experience of logistics support activities in areas of acquisition management, purchasing, transportation, distribution, inventory management and control, expendable and non-expendable equipment, and warehouse operations.

To begin, click Apply Online to create a USA JOBS account or log in to your existing account. Follow the prompts to select your USA JOBS resume and/or other supporting documents.
Answer the questions presented in the application and attach all necessary supporting documentation.
Click the Submit Application button prior to 11:59 PM (ET) on the announcement closing date, 07/10/2026.
If you are required to complete any USA Hire Assessments, you will be notified after submitting your application. The notification will be provided in your application submission screen and via email. The notification will include your unique assessment access link to the USA Hire system and the completion deadline. Additionally, in USAJOBS you can click "Track this application" to return to your assessment completion notice.

Review all instructions prior to beginning your assessments. You will have the opportunity to request a testing accommodation before beginning the assessments should you have a disability covered under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended.
Set aside at least 3 hours to take the USA Hire Assessments; however, most applicants complete the assessments in less time. If you need to stop the assessments and continue later, you can re-use your unique assessment link. NOTE: Your responses to the USA Hire Assessments will be reused for one year (in most cases) from the date you complete an assessment. If future applications you submit require completion of the same assessments, your responses will be automatically reused.
To update your application, including supporting documentation: During the announcement open period, return to your USAJOBS account, find your application record, and click Edit my application. This option will no longer be available once the announcement has closed.

Beginning September 27, 2025, Federal agencies will only accept resumes up to two pages in length to comply with the Merit Hiring Plan. Resumes longer than two pages will result in ineligibility for further consideration for the position. USAJOBS will not allow you to upload or build resumes longer than two pages, and you will need to update the resumes in your profile before applying for a job. Resumes should include information relevant to the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies of the position to which you are applying. VA is unable to make assumptions about qualifications if not clearly listed.

Your resume must be 5MB or less. We recommend saving and uploading your resume as a PDF to maintain formatting and number of pages. We also accept GIF, JPG, JPEG, PNG, RTF, TXT, PDF, ODT or Word (DOC or DOCX). We do not accept PDF portfolio files. We recommend using a sans-serif font size like Lato, if available. Other widely available options are Calibri, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana, Open San Source Sans Pro, Roboto or Noro Sans. Make your page margins 0.5 inches. Consider using 14-point size font for titles and 10-point for the main text in your resume. Next steps
Once your online application is submitted you will receive a confirmation notification by email. After we receive application packages (including all required assessments and documents) and the vacancy announcement closes, we will review applications to ensure qualification and eligibility requirements are met. After the review is complete, a referral certificate(s) is issued, and applicants will be notified of their status by email. Referred applicants will be notified as such and may be contacted directly by the hiring office for an interview. All referred applicants receive a final notification once a selection decision has been made.
