Duties

Help
  • Develops and provides technical loadmaster upgrade and proficiency training/instruction to aircrew members.
  • Develops instructional standards, training plans, tests, lesson plans, and other training material.
  • Develops, establishes, validates, and maintains unit loadmaster training program.
  • Writes and modifies general guidelines from a broad scope of principles, concepts, technology and methodology in order to form a practical lesson plans for flight training.
  • Evaluates student performance, annotates and maintains student training records.
  • Ensures students safely execute the demonstrated methods of flight duties.
  • Instructs, analyzes and interprets guidance.
  • Counsels students, evaluates student potential, makes determinations on readiness for evaluation, and recommends/initiates military reclassification actions as appropriate.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of the training program.
  • Accomplishes all requirements involved in mission planning and coordination.
  • Determines numbers of aircraft and loading crews/vehicles needed to support proposed missions.
  • Accomplishes coordination to verify availability of aircraft and previously scheduled commitments.
  • Accomplishes a wide variety of preflight, in flight and post flight duties required by the nature of the aircraft assigned and the aircraft's specialized mission.
  • Develops and certifies cargo load plans considering quantity, weight, configuration, floor capacity, compartment restrictions and proper location within the aircraft to achieve the optimum center of gravity.
  • Performs aircraft inspection to determine aircraft airworthiness.
  • Develops evacuation procedures for aircrew and passengers.
  • Briefs passengers on in flight and emergency procedures and demonstrates the use of emergency equipment.
  • Administers no notice, pyramid and annual evaluations.
  • Evaluates aircrew member's performance during all phases of flying mission execution.

  • Acceptance of an Excepted Service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in the Missouri National Guard prior to the effective date of placement.

  • Employment can be terminated with a 30 day notice.
  • In the event a permanent (Tenure 1 or 2) employee is selected, and is willing to accept the indefinite appointment, that employee will relinquish permanent status.
  • Must attain and maintain mission-ready status at the appropriate crew qualification level in the unit's assigned aircraft.
  • May be required to travel in military and commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • Must be instructor qualified, maintaining proficiency in the Principles of Instruction.
  • May be required to maintain flight examiner qualification. Periodically, as prescribed by regulations, must take and pass written and in-flight standardization/ evaluation examinations to include random no-notice evaluations.
  • Required to maintain proficiency in the use of firearms. As prescribed by regulation, may be required to carry and use a concealed weapon while performing aircrew related duties.
  • Management has the right to convert this position to permanent status without re-advertising.

Qualifications

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidate must currently be assigned to a military unit in the Missouri Air National Guard. Title 32 employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor (grade inversion).

Maximum Military Grade - MSgt (E-7)

Minimum Military Grade - TSgt (E-6)

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience in functions such as preparing aircraft loading plans, loading and off-loading aircraft, operating loading equipment, and ensuring security of cargo in flight.

GS-09 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 24 months of specialized experience which has provided you with knowledge of types, capacities and configuration of transport aircraft; weight and balance factors; cargo handling and restraint techniques; and emergency equipment and in-flight emergency procedures. The specialized experience must demonstrate your ability to prepare loading plans; determine airworthiness of the aircraft and aircraft cargo; ability to operate cargo loading equipment; experience in proper cargo and personnel airdrop procedures; and ability to train personnel in proper loading and off-loading procedures.

Must possess certification as an Aircraft Loadmaster Instructor.

Education

This job does not have a qualification requirement that allows substitution of education for specialized experience.
