Duties

Help

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Test all rental equipment, including boating equipment, for safe operation; demonstrates safety and conservation techniques for campers, trailers, and water sports areas; demonstrates equipment and techniques of various outdoor activities to include camping, swimming, and boating; sets up tournaments and practice games when such assignments require a practical knowledge of the rules/procedures of such activities (i.e., not simply manual labor assignments); inspects outdoor recreation and sports facilities/equipment for security and general condition; schedules campsites, cabins, boats, and other outdoor recreation equipment and areas for use, with responsibility for seeing that they are vacated and returned in good order.
Prepares cashier reports, reconciles and ensures proper accounting procedures, and inspects controlled forms for accuracy; informs management of irregularities. Performs and/or assists in the operation and maintenance of recreational facilities. Responsible for making sure all equipment is in proper working order prior to rental/storage. Demonstrates proper use of equipment when checking it out to customers. Responsible for leading certain Outdoor Recreation trips and programs; may be required to drive to trip locations. Operates a 15 passenger van to transport customers. Controls, monitors and receives payments for the Recreational Vehicle (RV) Storage Lot. Sends customers confirmation of payments and notifications as needed. Works under the supervision of the Supervisory Recreation Specialist (Outdoor Activities).

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:

  • Must have working experience or knowledge of the recreational activities and equipment, rules and procedures as related to the particular activity in which he/she is assigned.
  • Must have good organizational skills, cash handling experience is desirable.
  • Must be able to lift 70 pounds and bend, stop, stand, reach and work in awkward positions.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and a California Class B driver's license with passenger endorsement.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
  • Position is a position of trust.

Education
