Summary

This position is located in the Central Warehouse, Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department, Naval Station Great Lakes. The Central Warehouse is established for the purpose of receiving, handling, storing, issuing and accountability of food stuffs, supplies, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, retail merchandise and physical properties ordered by the MWR Department. Incumbent will act as the primary POC for all warehouse operations.

Duties

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

50% -

  • Responsible for the accuracy of the computer database of all inventory items maintained by the Central Warehouse
  • Verifies all incoming and outgoing orders for quantity, pricing and expiration dates
  • Verifies quantities required for restocking orders as needed
  • Issues warehouse and delivery assignments to the warehouse driver/s

30% -
  • Verifies expiration dates on all products to eliminate avoidable losses
  • Is the second signature for accuracy verification on all outgoing orders
  • Assists with the pulling of outgoing orders as needed
  • Assists with putting away incoming stock orders according to the FIFO method
  • May be required to make warehouse deliveries as needed
  • Trains other staff members on proper inventory procedures

10% -
  • Insures cleanliness of all assigned locations
  • Maintains temperature control logs
  • Submits work orders for facility repairs within the MWR warehouse
  • Obtains preventive maintenance checks on all warehouse equipment as needed

5% -
  • Insures preventive maintenance of vehicles assigned to the department
  • Insures proper mileage records are kept and submitted as required
  • Insures vehicles are kept clean at all times

  • Must pass all applicable records and background check.
  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • Must possess and maintain a current driver's license
  • Employment is conditional on the successful completion of a National Agency Check or equivalent background check(s) upon selection and periodically thereafter.
  • Must obtain forklift operators licenses within 60 days of hire and obtain periodic renewal.
  • Starting May 7, 2025, non-affiliated individuals requesting access will need a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or another acceptable form of identification to access CNRMA Installations. (review required documents section for more information.)

Qualifications

Must have a minimum of 2 years warehouse experience with a focus on inventory control, loss prevention, and record keeping.

Must be computer proficient and be willing to be trained in the specific warehouse computer software.

Must possess written and verbal communication skills.

Must be able to complete finished reports in a timely manner with a high degree of accuracy.

The incumbent must have the ability to push, pull, and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted

Education
