Serve as the main point of contact for all supply and acquisition functions for pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical device
Procure pharmaceuticals such as medications, controlled substances, chemotherapeutic agents, hazardous drugs, cold chain products, and
medications ordered on the local economy.
Respond to product recall requests from manufacturers by identifying such products in use and in stock.
Coordinate with vendors and other sources to manage electronic logistics catalogs.
Implement change to meet customer’s needs and handle frequent problems due to sudden fluctuations in hospital population and changes in
medical equipment and treatment procedures
Perform warehouse maintenance such as relocation of inventory, rotation of stock.
Manage purchase and supply contracts to ensure compliance
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with pharmacy supply operations utilizing automated systems to receive, safely store, and inventory pharmaceuticals and medical supplies; utilizing basic pharmaceutical knowledge to locate generic equivalents, identify brand/generic substitutions and reporting medication shortages and communicating order status updates with commercial pharmaceutical vendors, pharmacy and healthcare staff members. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the Inventory Management Specialist.

Superior Academic Achievement: Successful completion of all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, such as that identified in Education above. Superior Academic Achievement is based on:
(1) Class Standing - Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; OR
